Things to Do
There are tons of fun things to do in the Outer Banks. From lounging at the beach, to climbing a lighthouse, to golfing and shopping, you won't run out of things to do!

Shopping - There are tons of cute beach shops scattered along the Outer Banks. For serious shoppers, there are outlet stores. See
Tanger Outlet for more details.
-
Sports Activities - For the adventurous, you can go hang gliding, bike riding, kayaking, canoeing, parasailing, horseback riding on the beach, jet-skiing, or fishing on a chartered boat. There are so many companies for these activities, that it's easy to find a vendor. Along with friends Laurie, Elio, Anna, and Tracie, I used
Kitty Hawk Kites for a really enjoyable kayaking excursion years ago.

Tanning - For the sun worshippers, there's always the beach. See how relaxed our friend Carla's toes look in the picture? This is where I will probably be!
-
Dining - I think a key part of any vacation is a significant amount eating. Here's a short list of some of our favorite places.
-
Tortuga's Lie - This is our absolute favorite place to eat during our semi-annual girls' trips. It's got a Caribbean inspired menu, but you can still get burgers for the carnivores among us. Be sure to order the Shark Bite drink, which is a favorite of our friend Sarah.
- MexiCali - This casual tex-mex place is the favorite of our hot sauce seeking vegetarian friend, Cathy. It's got great food, despite the lack of an actual website.
- Outer Banks Brewing Station - Bobby and I enjoyed eating at this brewery; it has good food and even better beer.
- John's - Our friend Tracie, who grew up not far from the Outer Banks, introduced us to this locals' favorite. It's a drive up food stand that serves excellent milkshakes and yummy food. Our favorite is the dolphin basket (no Flippers hurt in the making of the baskets).
